Goa has a unicameral legislature which is governed by a Chief Minister and his council of ministers. There are forty members in Goa Legislative Assembly. The governor is appointed by the President of India. The governor has a ceremonial role and comes into prominence only when the government is formed.
Panaji is the administrative capital of Goa and Porvorim is the seat of
Goa legislative assembly. The judiciary of the state is under Bombay
High Court although a bench of High Court is present in Panaji.
